| Tax / Levy | Rate | Calculation Base |
|---|---|---|

How Ghana VAT Is Calculated
For a standard taxable amount, VAT, NHIL and GETFund Levy are each calculated against the same taxable value.
VAT = GH₵1,000 × 15% = GH₵150
NHIL = GH₵1,000 × 2.5% = GH₵25
GETFund Levy = GH₵1,000 × 2.5% = GH₵25
Total tax and levies = GH₵200
Final price = GH₵1,200
How to Calculate VAT From a VAT-Inclusive Price
If a standard VAT-inclusive amount already contains the 20% combined VAT and levies, divide the total amount by 1.20 to determine the underlying taxable value.
Taxable value = GH₵10,000 ÷ 1.20 = GH₵8,333.33
VAT = GH₵8,333.33 × 15% = GH₵1,250.00
NHIL = GH₵8,333.33 × 2.5% = GH₵208.33
GETFund Levy = GH₵8,333.33 × 2.5% = GH₵208.33
Total tax and levies = GH₵1,666.67
Tax-inclusive amount = GH₵10,000.00
